It's my blog and I'll post what I want to post what I want to

How I spent the first day of 2009

8:00 a.m. Up for some quiet time with my Lord and personal introspection regarding the old year and the new one (resolutions and all that).

8:05 a.m. The Littles are so painfully adorable snuggled up with Ron that I go wake up Ainsley and ask her to take a picture

9:00 a.m. More delicious essays from my c jane book (my Christmas present from Ainsley).

10:00 a.m. Ron is looking way warm and cozy in our bed with the new 4 inch memory foam topper and the new 80.00 pillows (don't freak - they were 60% off and I'm over pillows from Big Lots) so I crawl in beside him and curl myself around him and BAM just like that I open my eyes to a clock that says 12:30 p.m.

1:00 p.m. Everyone's hungry. Again? So showered and ready for a casual at home day (not a "I must look good" outing type of day) I go to the Jay C store which is a bit more expensive but I don't have it in me to do Walmart.

2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ron finished his all day project of brisket (thanks, Ron!) and I made twice baked potatoes, green beans and broccoli salad (that really good one with the bacon and sunflower seeds).

The rest of the night we spent hanging out with four of Ainsley's best college buds

visiting us from Michigan and Ohio and Indiana (and my friend who is the mom of one of Ainsley's college friends). I'm really glad my friend came over. It eased the pain of being old in the company of the youth and beauty that filled my house. My friend is beautiful, don't take me wrong, it's just that youth has its own dewy beauty that anyone over 40 can't match despite what that lying "More" magazine may tell you.

At 1:30 a.m. I crawled back into bed with my warm husband and we each snuggled up with a Little feeling quite pleased with the way the first day of 2009 turned out.

My New Year's wish for you - snuggles with Littles, deep talks with Bigs, great food, old friends and health
